Responsibilities:

• Ability to understand and articulate complex business BI requirements
• Experience building complex reports, dashboards, and scorecards
• Experience analyzing data and interpreting results
• Knowledge of OLAP analysis and cube development
• Ability to analyze and develop reporting systems architecture
• Logical data modeling experience
• General database knowledge and expertise in SQL

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• Expertise in developing Cognos 8 Framework Manager models
• Expertise in developing complex Cognos 8 reports and dashboards in Report Studio and Analysis Studio

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• Experience in ETL development and scripting.
• Experience with Teradata.
• Cognos Advanced or Master level certification preferred.

Cognos Lead

DESCRIPTION

A Cognos Lead is needed to join a Datawarehouse project team to for administration, support and enhancement of the Datawarehouse Cognos 7.3 environment. Duties will include administration, analysis, troubleshooting, and enhancing existing reports, cubes and catalogs or developing new ones on Cognos. The Systems Analyst will work with the rest of the technical team to understand the current Cognos 7 objects, administer and support them on a daily basis, and prepare and develop any required enhancements. An upgrade to Cognos 8 may happen during the course of the assignment and this Cognos Lead may become the support person for the Cognos 8 environment.

Qualifications:

• Experience on Impromptu, Powerplay, Access Manager and IWR and PPES server administration tools, are MUST
• Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of formal IT development/systems configuration experience
• Experience with Datawarehouse report definition and distribution, cube generation, bursting and security processes
• Experience with Cognos series 7 server configuration including Transformer, Powerplay Enterprise Server and Access Manager
• Experience with report development using Powerplay and Impromptu
• Experience with Cognos 7 Server Administration tools
• Experience on multi-server Cognos install preferred
• Knowledge of VBA scripting, Cognos script and C# preferred
• Experience writing complex queries on Oracle database
• Knowledge of Data warehouse interface tools including Informatica
• Knowledge of Access database preferred
• Ability to follow the documented instructions and work/resolve independently
• Change management experience required - IT control practices, organizational change, technology adoption

The Senior Technical Specialist (Reporting) will work closely with the data warehouse team, internal Xchanging personnel, and external customers to deliver information solutions. This individual will define standards and implement processes for the reporting function within Xchanging.
